I have heard many ministers say that God talks to them. I was thinking about that one afternoon as I was taking a break from the hustle and bustle of life. I was at a beautiful and relaxing place in South Carolina called Daufuskie Island.
I was just starting my walk with the Lord and had so many questions and wished God would talk to me and tell me exactly what He wanted me to do. He has talked to others, so I thought why should He not talk to me and take away any doubt I might have about Him.
I lay down on the bed and opened my Bible. It opened to the 37th chapter of Job.
I began to read at the 14th verse and quit reading at Job 38:11 when I said, "This far you may come and no farther; here is where your proud waves halt."
I put the book down and thought I would just take a walk on the beach before dark. As I walked I could see the sun setting in the West and the moon rising in the East.
As I was looking up I did not pay attention to the big wave that was crashing ashore. As I moved to get out of the way the wave stopped at my feet and harmlessly went back out to sea.
I remembered what I just read before I came out and knew that God talked to me that day. I went back to the house and wrote this song.
HE TALKS TO ME
WITHOUT A SOUND
IN HIS WAY AND EVERYDAY
I KNOW HIS AROUND
LIFE WAS LOST
NOW IT'S FOUND
CAUSE HE TALKS TO ME
WITHOUT A SOUND
IN THE DARKNESS OF NIGHT I CAN SEE
IN THE EYE OF THE STORM HE COMPFORTS ME
WHEN I GROW WEAK HE MAKES ME STRONG
HE TAKES WHATS RIGHT FROM WHAT'S WRONG
CLOUDS RUSH BY
WITH-OUT A SOUND
THE LEAVES FALL FROM THE TREES
AND COVER THE GROUND
THE TIDE COMES ASHORE
THAN SLIPS AWAY
THE NIGHT FOLLOWS THE LIGHT
THAT BRINGS THE NEXT DAY
IN THE DARKNESS OF NIGHT I CAN SEE
IN THE EYE OF THE STORM HE COMPFORTS ME
WHEN I GROW WEAK HE MAKES ME STRONG
HE TAKES WHATS RIGHT FROM WHAT'S WRONG
HE TALKS TO ME
WITHOUT A SOUND
IN HIS WAY AND EVERYDAY
I KNOW HIS AROUND
LIFE WAS LOST
NOW IT'S FOUND
CAUSE HE TALKS TO ME
WITHOUT A SOUND
