This show was a product of our drummer Gary Lawyer, who is not only a
great drummer, but also a great fisherman. He and his wife Debbie bought
into this beautiful piece of property in eastern Ohio, that had an
abandoned quarry on the back of it.
He stocked it with fish and it became
a great fishing place. Gary also had this idea of having a family day,
where families could come and fish and have a great time with some music
and a worship service to close out the evening.
A producer heard of
the idea and wanted to film it. Gary also thought it would be a great
idea for a fishing show.
This show would be unique in the fact that it
would not only show some great fishing, but people could hear some great
music and stories behind the music. They could hear about how God played apart in each
one of our lives through music, family and friends. If it panned out, we
could have different musical guest or sports figure each week. This
would be a place where people would come together and not grow apart.
I told Gary that I didn't fish. I was a golfer. He said, "Put down those
clubs and I'll teach you to fish."
After losing the last golf
tournament I was in (by shooting from behind every tree on the course), I was
more than willing to try fishing. I told Gary I would write the song for the show and
Gary took over from there.
I am so glad I got to know Gary. He truly
is an amazing person.
I call him The Warrior. He can handle anything,
anytime, anywhere.
